Kalavrita is a gorgeous town with lots of Greek History important sites, amazing nature walks and hike, lovely very affordable food and welcoming people. Even if you don't ski, as it is known for the ski resort, there are lots of things to enjoy. I will definitely revisit as 3 days at Kalavrita were barely enough.

Kalavrita is a nice town (bigger and more lively then expected... but again not a big town). We found a good restaurant offering a big variety of Greek food.
When we were there after the mid of August there was a nice concert in the main square and there were many people around. The shops were opened as well.
We saw the orthodox Monastery of Kalavrita (it is free) and I recommend the visit, there was a nice atmospheare.

Kalavrita is a nice get away.
Kalavrita is a nice get away. You don’t have to go to ski, just being in the quaint town it’s perfect. Strolls, eating out, there are some awesome places to eat. You can retreat in the warmth of your room. Read, chill or just watch a good flick. Also there are places to see that are not far.

We visited the Holocaust museum, that is realized in the real original school building where Nazist soldiers activated the massacre of Kalavitra inhabitants. Very well organized, effective, emotional
Then, we took the opportunity to jump on the cog train towards Diakopto, and to experience the unique, beautiful and unforgettable walk along the railroad path, with magnific view on the Vouraikos gorge and river.

The best thing about Kalavrita is the train journey up and back down. The town itself is nothing special but the scenery and surroundings are wonderful. Stay at Chalet Azanias. You will not be disappointed.

We arrived in the late afternoon, stayed a day to ride the narrow gauge railway in the gorge, visit the museum, and the Memorial site on the hill. The town is very nice with nice shops and restaurants. It was a bit quiet in October, but we found everything we needed. The train ride was scenic and the museum very interesting if you are interested in WWII history. It's a very sad chapter of history of course, but very well presented to honor the many victims and tell the story. The ride up to Kalavryta from the autobahn is amazing! We didn't get to visit the two monasteries nearby. You may want to consider a full two days if you want to see them as well.
The hotel is wonderful but the owner and staff are incredible! Warm, welcoming and hospitable, as if they were opening the doors to their home with all of the comforts you need. The location is ideal, just a short walk the Main Street, museum, train station and town square. The homemade breakfast was OUTSTANDING! Fresh, varied, satisfying. We can’t wait to visit again.
It has everything you need!
fully equipped, clean, comfortable.
location was great, easy to get to the train and the main Street yet private and quite.
beautiful views from the window.
One of the best parts was the host not only very helpful & communicative but also warm and welcoming.
would definitely recommend and come again!
Christiana is very friendly, helpful and willing to recommend places to visit. The room was very cosy, warm (i stayed there during January), clean and beautifully decorated. The hotel is located really close to the centre of Kalavryta and a 5 minute walk is needed to get there. So, I would totally recommend the hotel!
Exceptional hospitality from the owners of the hotel. The room was very comfortable, clean and with continuous heating. From the center of Kalavrita, the hotel was in a very close distance (3-4 minutes on foot). Last but not least, the breakfast was fantastic. You should try the two jams, which are homemade.
The owners were extremely welcoming, caring, providing very valuable recommendations about places to visit, to eat, to travel, not only around, but even in neighbouring islands. They are around, if you need anything. The hotel is very comfortable, breakfast is very good.
Everything about this Chalet is excellent. The staff, the rooms, the staff and hospitality. Attention to detail, very comfortable and cosy rose, the view is excellent and home.made freshly breakfast. A must stay if.you visit Kalavrita.
