This is a hidden gem in heart of Flateyri. We spent there a romantic New Years Eve and we were more than amazed by this beautful experience. It is a family run bookstore/accommodation business for decades with nicely preserved antique interior. Host gave us a quick tour in the building. Kitchen was full of kitchenware, spices, sweets and food for breakfast. Lots of books, boardgames, guitar to play and so on. This is one of 2 best places in Vestfirdir for a romantic stay.

The property had an amazing unique design inside. It was warm and had a real coziness about it. The house had a wonderful selection of books displayed on creative bookshelf’s around the lounge, everything for everyone. Our room was beautifully designed and the bed was very comfortable. The roomy shower was superb and Stephanie our host was so friendly. We couldn’t ask for more on our 3 day stay.

This was great! Clean, comfortable beds, nice view in all directions and good kitchen. I went outside the season, so it also was no que to go the bathroom/use the kitchen at this time.
Because of logistics related to my work travel, I ended up booking two different rooms for my two nights, but the staff had fixed this so I got both nights in the «best» room.

It's a small fishing village on the edge of the fjord. Travelling through the tunnel to get there was an experience. The town is beautiful and the rich and vibrant fishing industry is interesting.

It was an overnight stay on our way along the fjords, very easily accessible accommodation on the main street. Suðureyri has a decent church, too.
Very special is the access to the village - through a 9km-long tunnel in the massif, with a T-junction inside. The tunnel has only one lane, one preferred direction and lot of side stops for cars passing by. It's a very cool experience!
