The cottage was nicely decorated and reasonably well appointed for a self-catering stay.
The location was perfect for exploring the Reykjanes Peninsula by car and was about 10 minutes’ drive from the large supermarkets of Keflavik.
It was very peaceful and close to the lovely walking trail to the lighthouse.

Gardur is a small town ... with a wonderful Lighthouse that is very photogenic ... no traffic ... no crowds. Gardur is a very limited for restaurants and other services ... but an excellent choice if you want to explore the Reykjanes Peninsula ... and close to the airport.

For me, the Garður Apartments were ideal: there was a kitchen area to prepare food (because there are no nearby restaurants), the area was quiet except for calling birds, and I enjoyed walking to lighthouse that is about 20 minutes' walk away. There is minimal light pollution in the area around the hotel, increasing the chances of viewing the Northern Lights. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and gave off a Finnish log cabin vibes. There is ample parking space. Breakfast was also good, with decent vegetarian/vegan options. The room did get very warm at night, and we lowered the thermostat/opened the windows for some relief.
