One of the main attractions of the city is St. Stephan church with the colourful stained glass windows by Marc Chagall. The weekly market in front of the Cathedral features everything a traveller could wish, from flowers to fresh local products and clothes.
You should not miss the futuristic building of the New Synagogue designed by Manuel Herz, as well as the museums of Mainz State, Ancient Shipping and the Gutenberg Museum.

Frankfurt International Airport is about 20 km away and has flights to Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Madrid and Copenhagen. We were in Mainz for only two full days but saw and experienced a lot. The Altstadt is beautiful. We visited the Gutenberg Museum and enjoyed their mini-workshop a lot. As an artist, my favourite was the St Stephan's Cathedral, with the stained glass windows designed by Chagall. I did not know of its existence, and I loved it! The Roman Theatre at the Romische Teater train station was not that impressive, as we could only look at it through construction wire. It would have been nice to sit there and contemplate its history. Nevertheless, I am glad I saw it. We also visited the Volkspark on a public holiday, and it was interesting to see how ordinary German families enjoy a sunny day.

Mainz is a fantastic city.
Mainz is a fantastic city. It has all the flavors what I long for. The strong history heritage, z.b. Mainz dom; the best wein Jard region of the world, z.b Rhine Weingau; authentic German food; the active growing business environment; the city is not big but just big enough for everything. Mainz is the city , the longer you stay, the more you love and you will go away. Ich liebe Mainz.

Mainz is a relatively small city founded in Roman times and
Mainz is a relatively small city founded in Roman times and
sits where the Rhine and Main rivers meet. Some Roman ruins still remain.
There is plenty of good shopping, places of interest and some great restaurants, a couple of days in the city is probably enough.
The Rhine forms the border between Rhineland Palatinate and Hessen, so you may need different travel tickets if you leave Mainz itself.
To see further afield, either the rhineland or hessen day tickets give up to five people unlimited rail travel for a very reasonable cost (about £30) so you can explore a large area cheaply.
Well-maintained, quiet hotel in a residential neighborhood. Our room with a balcony was adequate in size and clean. Staff were all friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast with its variety of breads, meat, cheese, spreads, eggs, yogurt, fruit, and drinks. Location was a plus, being near Mainz, Wiesbaden, and the Rhein River. A SBahn was very close and convenient; however, we used our car to get around.
The location of the hotel is second to none, perfect for tourists. All hotel staff I met were all kind, helpful and effective. The hotel has its own underground car park which is quite large. At the time of booking, I was not guaranteed a space but upon arrival I found a place blocked by a cone with my name on - really appreciated! I am happy to come back again for my next visit to Mainz.
The hotel is very well located near the city centre of Mainz. You can reach the station in 10 minutes. The hotel looks very nice, the staff is friendly and the breakfast is very good. For parking the car, the best is probably to first search outside the hotel, along the same street. Otherwise they also have a private parking (on the back side of the hotel) but for a fee.
Great hotel with perfect location in Mainz, very close (walking distance) to everything. It is located in a quiet street so no noise at all. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I asked if I could have a late check out, and it was no problem at all. Thanks again! The room was large. All in all I would recommend this hotel for a few days in Mainz.
The Manager, Michael, was extremely helpful at all times. He provided free breakfast for us, which was great. He also stored our luggage during the day. Our room was on the top floor and was very well designed with everything we needed. The Guesthouse is well situated for the train station and the old town. I highly recommend Mainz Guesthouse
The Hotel is located near to the central station of Mainz and is very close to the city.
For parking we had no problem and I could find a free parking direcly in front of the Hotel!
The room was very clean and nicely decorated.
The beds were also comfortable and the room was large and bright.
The hotel is located just down the street from the Altstadt, where we walked around and had dinner on our first night. The staff was friendly and helpful and the parking garage had a clearance of 2,2 meters, which was important since the rental car company gave us a giant van.
Every member of staff were so pleasant and helpful. Good size room in older but very clean hotel directly across from the train station. Breakfast had great choice and served from 6:30 weekday or 7am weekend. About 15 min walk into old town centre of city. Would recommend.
Very plush and understated hotel. Everything one needed was at hand. Breakfast Excellent. Beautiful surroundings in the park. Lovely Rhine views and convenient walks. Better than we had expected. Well done.

A Modern and conveniently located hotel by the station and 15 min walk into town. Mainz is charming city and this hotel, (.along).with a great breakfast) was a perfect 1 night stay
Very good easy location for walking to old town and various sites. Bathroom was modern and bed was comfortable. This is more of a boarding house than a hotel. My room had a balcony.
