A town not too far from Dublin airport and within easy distance to Co Tyrone ,Northern Ireland. The locals very very friendly and the local pubs were traditional , well at least the ones I went into. YES the Guinness does taste different to the British variety .Ireland in common with most places these days is not a cheap place ,indeed the price of property is on par with England as opposed to a few years when it was dirt cheap.
Roads generally in good repair , the main ones , the side roads can be problematic.

The staff were exceptionally helpful, with advice (local taxi's who were very reliable & fair priced)
Wilst preparing for an event a 'sticky' garment cleaner was required; again reception were able to help. I cannot fault the staff for their help & advice. A real credit to the hotel.

Myself and my daughter had a very relaxing stay.
Myself and my daughter had a very relaxing stay. We particularly enjoyed the spa treatment called ‘the pick n mix’. The lady who gave us Indian head massages and leg and foot massages was outstanding. The food in the restaurant was fabulous with beautiful views surrounding the dining area. The staff were so helpful and friendly. It is a very welcoming hotel. Our only minor disappointment was the big, hard pillows. I didn’t sleep very well. In saying that, we would come back !
the location worked well for us and this was one of the only hotels available (now I know why). I was not expecting much and even at that this was below my expectations. I will say that the breakfast was surprisingly good and fresh - although we finished our entire meal with no coffee because we couldn't get any staff to wait on us. I even got up and approached people to ask someone to bring coffee to our table but they were too busy trying to take care of other things to deliver anything before we were finished eating.
We had a very pleasant stay at Rock House. The beds are on par with any high end hotel in terms of comfort, it’s calm, clean and quiet and just a short but nice walk from Carrick town centre. The owners were absolutely great, friendly and welcoming, and they went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. The breakfast was amazing too! I will definitely stay here again any time I’m visiting the area.
This hotel exceeded my expectations. The room was so clean, bright and most of all-comfortable. The reception staff were very welcoming. Breakfast was so nice, although there was no option to self serve for the likes of water/orange juice/tea or pastries etc and only one member of staff on who seemed busy.
My husband and I have stayed at this hotel many times and as always we were very pleased with our stay. The staff were super friendly and very accommodating. The hotel is within walking distance to everything in the town if you are healthy.
The breakfast was good. I would prefer a freshly cooked fry rather than buffet, but that is becoming more rare. The evening meals were very good.
The hotel grounds are very pleasant. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Lovely small hotel/pub/restaurant near the village of Carrickmacross. Very friendly staff - could not do enough for us. Lovely breakfast and dinner menu excellent too. Only an hours drive to Dublin airport on good roads.
Lovely country house hotel. Room spacious but perhaps decor just a little tired. Staff lovely, couldn’t do enough for you so this more than made up for any ‘tired’ decor! Wonderful stay and will return.
Pauline was a fantastic host. The room was perfect and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. It's just a short walk to the centre of Carrickmacross.
We dined in the hotel throughout our mini break and found the food to be of a high quality and delicious.
All the staff were friendly and very helpful.
