Conversas is truly a dream. I couldn’t have conceived of a more beautiful place to spend a few days away. A rustic farmhouse commune by day turns to a romantic fairy-lit magical forest at night. The facilities are beautifully composed and artfully designed, from the garden whose produce is found integrated into each meal, to the green areas which gladly welcome visits from finches, rabbits and gentle wildlife, and the bountiful orange trees that provided our breakfast juices - each detail serves a dual purpose, contributing in equal measure to both the aesthetic and experience of the space.
The service was preternaturally attentive - the team picked up on my partner’s preference for orange juice, and my lactose intolerance without either of us having to say a word. These leanings were then seamlessly incorporated into our daily offerings at mealtimes.
Our room, No Clock, embodied its name aptly. We completely lost track of time within the space, and really enjoyed our loft bed, which placed us at eye level with the birds flitting outside our window in the mornings.
All in all our time at Conversas entirely exceeded our expectations. I’m usually one for always looking forward, and trying something (or somewhere) new, but in this case, I can’t wait to go back.

The location is fabulous in a small village about 2km from Altura and supermarkets are nearby (I'd advise hiring a car) big gated drive to the front of the villa.
The house is spacious, furnished in traditional Portuguese style, lovely big kitchen with big fridge freezer, washing machine and dishwasher as well as cooker. Plenty of plates, dishes, glasses etc and utensils as well as pots and pans etc. The shower is lovely and powerful. New aircon units in the bedrooms, WiFi and massive TV in the lounge (we never used it as we spent our time outside)
The best thing though is the pool and patio, it is as good as the pictures, if not better. It is big and open enough to have both sunny and shady areas all day long - perfect for when it gets too hot in the sun. The pool is a good size and very clean. We spent a lot of time there relaxing and sitting outside enjoying the warm evenings.

The twin room was nice and clean an so was the en-suite bathroom. We found both beds very comfortable. There was an electronic safe in the wardrobe, also a small fridge incorporated into the desk area. The airconditioning unit in the room was well placed above the beds and the the compressor was outside on the balcony wall. On returning to the room just before Midnight, we only switched the unit on for an hour and it performed very well. The private balcony had a table and two chairs, also a decent sized drying rack. Breakfast was a very good continental self service style available between 08.00 and 10:00 AM. Coffee and soft drinks came via different dispensers plus there were a couple of toast machines. You had a good choice of cold meats and cheese plus various cereals that were always being replenished. Breadrolls, bread for toast, croissants and a selection of cake. You also had fried and boiled eggs. The whole breakfast area was kept clean and tidy by the attentive staff. The Pool is quite large but not heated. The surrounding area was well laid out and acted as a good suntrap with pleny of space for all the sunbeds. This was all free of charge. There was also an indoor wellness area which you paid extra for. Finally, we checked in at 15:00 and our room we asked for was ready ahead of schedule. Senhor Miguel was very helpful and made the booking-in process extremely smooth. When we left, around 11:00 in the morning it was Christina who dealt with us in a very friendly and proficient manner.

An industrious little town that is friendly and convenient to lovely beaches and scenery. The restaurants and bars are friendly and excellent value. An ideal location to base yourself, which is why we returned 25 years after having had our honeymoon there. We will revisit in the next 24 months and perhaps consider retiring to here.

Beach was not great as did not even have toilets.
Beach was not great as did not even have toilets. There was no view from the property, no deck chairs for use and generally disappointing. I would not recommend this place. Only one (quite expensive) restaurant near the premises. You need to have a car (parking spot does not have any shade) if staying there. No tourist info available.

Passionate Golfers rip off
Passionate Golfers rip off
I totally agree that this place is extraordinary, speaking about the course and the rooms. Top level - for a top price. One of the best courses i ever played worldwide
What is mediocre to low is the restaurant the grill , as its needs urgently renovation and the food is way overpriced for the quality. You have to leave the resort with a car/taxi to find an alternative -as the other restaurants inside ( Vista) charges min 150 Euros per menu.
What made me mad is that you have to pay extra - if you want to exercise at the range and hit long shots, after ! your round (before is max one hour allowed).So even being a guest at that place , and paying the greenfee for your round , you have to pay extra 25 Euros , for one hour, so if you are an ambitious player you might have to pay 50-75 Euros extra on top of the green fee just for using the range afterwards. This i call a greedy rip off .
Especially as we were not informed before about this - booking the rooms and tee times it should be written , as its quite unusual. And you don’t find it on the website not even the the price for the greenfee.
I wanted to discuss this with the director of golf , Darren Griffith - explained the situation at the front desk , but never got a call back or a message. This shows me that they are more interested in glamour and image of the place , but not in real service to their guests.
But as most guests are average 70 and older , the willingness to complain gets smaller to low.

The village itself has nothing to see.
The village itself has nothing to see. The interesting sights around the area are:
- Cacela Velha;
- Tavria-,
- Vila Real de Santo António.
Several beaches are also available within a short driving distance. These beaches are the ones with the warmest waters of Continental Portugal, namely:
- Praia Verde;
- Altura;
- Manta Rota;
- Fábrica

Nice little town on the Eastern Algarve.
Nice little town on the Eastern Algarve. Plenty of restaurants in the town and several on main N125 road. Bank and Post Office in the town. Easy reach of superb beaches at Cacela Velha and Manta Rota . Vila Real de San Antonio and Tavira, major interesting towns within 20 mins drive. A very good base for exploring the Eastern Algarve and into Spain as well.

The comfort and ambience of the hotel. The ' family-run' feel and pride in the property. The suites and all areas of the property are all beautifully decorated & curated. Food is exceptional, wonderful breakfast and take the time to enjoy the 'Surprise menu' evening meal, it is so worth it! All staff are attentive, discreet, friendly. The housekeeping team do an amazing job and the turn down service each evening just creates the most romantic atmosphere, with tealights lit every night.
A truly excellent boutique hotel, with individually furnished rooms, set in quiet and private surroundings. This is an ideal option for a couple wanting a quiet stay with an exclusive feel. Breakfast was wonderful, and we recommend experiencing dinner at the property for at least one evening. Staff were friendly and gave lots of recommendations for thighs to see and do locally. The town of Tavira is short drive away and makes for a nice day trip.
The room was absolutely Amazing
All of he staff were totally outstanding very friendly very helpful and went out of their way to assist. Thank you again for all your help.
It's 25- 30+min brisk walk to the beach or a very cheap 5min uber ride there. Also there's a hidden treasure in that The Hotel surrounded by a fruit orchard.
3min walk away to local Restaurants.
Its a hidden gem in the Algarve.
Would love to visit again 😊
Well furnished room in the centre of the „Museum Town“. Nice view. House is new renovated-most of IKEA.
But You feel like being part of the town. We stayed alone in the house, even if the have 5 rooms for rent. Key was stored in a box outside of the house. So its more an airbnb as a hotel. You should not go to the reataurant at the beginng of the town, but great food and servive nearby the church. Cacela Vehla has a great beach as well
The perfect place to rest. A beautiful, family-run boutique hotel. Delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners, all prepared with passion and love, and attention to every detail. We will be back for sure. It was an unforgettable vacation.
Superb value for money! The hotel is in a very tranquil setting, close by to Tavira, with an excellent breakfast. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, plus there's a lovely pool on site.
Peaceful, homely and welcoming hotel with delicious breakfast and dinner. Staff always went the extra mile to help out and we would definitely recommend it.
