How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The shower door didn't close properly and the heating was difficult to manage, the screen was broken, so we couldn't get the room temperature right
Excellent location, and such good value for money, big family room with lovely bathroom, everything was super clean. The breakfast offerings were perfect!

For the money, the room was a bit cramped.
The room was very clean and breakfast was good. We liked the location as it was off the main road so very quiet. We liked the history of the building, based at the stables. Plenty of parking and nice to have benches outside.

As much as I liked the room, unfortunately I didn’t sleep very well, as there wasn’t any curtains just a flimsy blind provided and found the light came through. I was awake from 4 this morning. The room is also definitely in need of a new mattress also.
Lovely little room, with ensuite bathroom. Towels and soaps provided. Breakfast is nice, was very happy as they provided oat milk.

Room was quite warm, i think the heating had been left on. Other than that great room. Could do with a hairdryer in the room and more hooks for towels/coats etc.
Fab location, staff where all so lovely and helpful. Stayed in a family room which was compact but worked well for what we needed. Breakfast was nice but I think was running a little late on the morning. Ample parking on site. Highly recommend the fish and chip shop over the road for food.

We were put in room 14, with 2 small children, this room is directly above the reception/the canteen and facing the door to the stairs which meant it was very noisy every time anyone opened and closed the door to the hotel we heard it, then everyone who came upstairs had to walk past our room, I think it must have been the noisiest room available, which wasn't the best with noise waking the children up on several occasions late and night and again from 7am for breakfast. Breakfast was ok but sausages were like the ones you get in a chippy, not to my taste at all.
Location was good. Staff friendly, great to look around the racecourse.

The kids' beds were fine, but the adult bed wasn't too comfortable . Our overall experience was fantastic.
The staff are friendly and kind. Breakfast was tasty, and there were varieties. We enjoyed our stay.

2 single beds pushed together to make a double, we can expect that in Spain or Greece etc but not here in England, bad nights sleep.

Dining area had feel of a canteen not helped by a school party staying on site

Change of breakfast times wasn't signposted. Other guests were noisy & woke up me at 3am by letting doors slam.
super friendly & helpful staff, from reception to breakfast. Lovely breakfast buffet with good choice. Room was as expected - I've been several times to The Stableside, and have already booked my next stay.

There doesn’t seem to be pictures of the room we had 19 in the annex. Felt very misleading as it was almost like a prison cell. They advertise ample parking but it gets very busy so don’t pin all your hopes on this.
The staff were very friendly and only a 10 minute taxi (roughly between 8-9GBP) to the centre. Staff were lovely and allowed an early check in.

Room was a bit cramped and beds just about comfortable.
Staff at reception and in dining area were helpful and accommodating. Located in a nice area of York, within walking distance (20-25 mins) of centre of York.

Shower area could be a little cleaner (patches of mould on the ceiling) but it wasn't bad
A short taxi ride out of the centre but worth it given the high price of city centre hotels. Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice breakfast. Would stay again
