I stayed here for a night and enjoyed it. I liked the old style and that it seemed organic. This was something different for me during my travel. I enjoyed sitting in the big open living room at night with the fireplace going. Guests are also allowed to use the kitchen and they also offered free vegetables.
The lady working here that I met in the morning was very nice! The huge property is so beautiful with all kinds of plants and flowers and even animals.
Located in Santana in the Madeira Islands region, Casa de Campo Arco de São Jorge by An Island Apart has a balcony. This holiday home offers accommodation with a patio.

Everything was perfect. Nice and clean with everything you need. Maybe for longer stays you’ll feel the lack of a washing machine, but for our 5 nights stay we didn’t need it. The fact that there was coffee was just the cherry on top. The host was replying really fast to our messages. Fast as in instant.
Set in Santana, En Santana centro, casa entera con vista al mar y la montaña is a recently renovated accommodation, 40 km from Marina do Funchal and 45 km from Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools.

The host was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the local area. The house was very clean and had everything we needed, including easy parking. This is a great location for local hiking. Highly recommended!

The hotel is very pleasant.
The hotel is very pleasant. It is good to be together with nature and with beautiful views over the sea and mountains. However, check-in took a long time, we waited 1 hour and a half for them to prepare the room, and when we got to the room, there were no pool towels, we had to ask at reception. Another situation that I didn't like was the booking of the wine tasting and visit to wine house. We were refused the wine tasting because we had already checked out at 12:00h. So we asked if we could do it before check out and they said yes, but we got there and nobody showed up.

Don't stay in Santana longer than 4 days and make sure you have a rental car to get to all the levadas easily. The restaurants/cafes in Santana are not that good/nice. The only tourist attraction in Santana are the famous Santana houses and the nearby hiking area Queimadas.

We made the mistake of not hiring a car before we got to the hotel. We figured we would see what Santana was like and then hire a car locally, this was a big mistake! Once we got to our hotel, it was clear that we would need a car to get around as nothing is close or easy to get to. We're super active people but local hikes are 30 mins just to get to. We were told it would be £630 to hire a car for 5 days. Our advice would be to hire a car ahead of your trip.
Santana is beautiful and has such a variety of things to do and see. Other advice would be to not judge a book by its cover when it comes to restaurants, we ate the best stake in a tiny little restaurant that looked pretty grim from outside.
You probably wont want to spend all your time in Santana but its a great base.

It is a lovely, peaceful and relaxing place.
I wanted time to chill, and Santana did that.
Lovely scenery.
Eat at the Serra e Mar
Don't bother with the tourists traditional houses, there are plenty of genuine ones in the town, some very rustic

We love Santana in the winter.
We love Santana in the winter. The tourists are all in Funchal, so you have the place for yourself.
Santana is ideally placed for the best hikes in Madeira: Pico Ruivo (at least 3 different hikes start here, all top-class), Queimadas with its amazing hikes and others. Also a short drive to the airport.
There are some great restaurants in Santana and the adjoining villages and all the services you may need.
The apartment was perfect for my family 2 adults and 2 kids. We had everything we needed. The location is easy to find and the communication with the host was perfect.
Having the opportunity for self check-in was very important as we arrived late in the evening.
The supermarket is in the way to the apartment in Santana.
Car rental is needed and parking place is available.
It is situated in the middle of nature.
From the location we drove between 30 min-1h:30 min to the important places of the island.
Beautiful accommodation in Santana! I always communicated with LilLi and then Marco welcomed me at the door. He was extremely kind and helpful, and greeted us with a warm smile and a delicious bottle of local wine. The apartment was impeccably clean and equipped with all the comforts, including Wi-Fi, TV, air conditioning and a spacious bathroom. The location is perfect for exploring the north-east of Madeira. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and welcoming stay!
the hotel is in an amazing location, in the middle of vineyards, ocean view and a beautiful flower garden, near the town of Santana.
The hotel has a lot of rules that can be a bit annoying. It is necessary to choose breakfast period for tomorrow, it is necessary to make an order for dinner in their restaurant, as well as for pizza.
Everything is kind of quite conservative, so we didn't feel free.
The staff is otherwise very polite.
Hotel very clean.
The ambience is exceptional.
A very nice, newly furbished flat, a 15 minute drive from Santana and close to the Caldeiro Verde levada trail. The kitchen was well-equipped and a washing machine was provided as well. Trouble-free parking is available in front of the house. The host responded to our messages almost instantly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely come back again.
The location is a good starting point if you have a car to several great hiking trails. Apartment staff was very helpful and gave us a much bigger apartment than what we originally booked. We could even borrow an umbrella against the rain. Breakfast and the whole breakfasting location was very nice and harmonic. There were also three very nice cats in the garden.
The room was very comfortable and spacious, especially the bathroom. Nice decoration. Common area (kitchen & living room) was also convenient and well equipped. Beautiful surroundings, levada walk next door. :) I believe the restaurant belongs to the owners, make sure to have a reservation as it can get quite crowded during dinner time.
I loved the coziness and authenticity of the house. Completely in the nature, surrounded by gardens and farms. Feels like true Madeira. The beds were confortable, rooms are big enaugh, common area is very nice. Breakfast was good. It's also close to Santana centre and the bus stop. There you can also find some restaurants and a shop.
The property is very conveniently located to the Santana houses, Pico Ruivo and other great hikes in the area. In order to get there you need a car. The house is very spacious with lots of special touch and decor. It has absolutely everything a family with kids would be needed for their stay.
Great apartments quite near the centre of Santana and it is a strategic location for trips around East and Centre of Madeira.
The studio had everything we needed (full kitchen, bathroom equipment and so on).
Host family is friendly and kind, thank you so much! :)
The woman who checked us in and later served us at the restaurant was so lovely. Friendly and funny. I’m sorry I can’t accurately remember her name. Elina? If we ever return to Madeira she is the number one reason we will choose Santana in Nature.
Our favorite place on the island. Welcoming, peaceful and tucked away right behind the beautiful city center of Santana. This is what staying on Madeira should feel like. And let us not forget the welcoming and friendly people that run this place.
Everything was perfect, Manuel and Fatima were very welcoming ! The place was greatly located in Santana and very comfy with a fully equipped accommodation.
Definitely one of the best spots to stay and discover the northern side of my the island !
The breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed very much the immediate proximity of the centre of Santana as well and above, the nice welcome of the hosts. A very nice place to stay if you prefer to stay away from the big hotels and touristic places.
There was a great jacuzzi and swimming pool with an amazing view to the ocean and the mountains. If I could give this hotel 11 points I would have done it.
Cute house with a nice garden.
You could use the kitchen if you wanted to cook your own food or keep things in the fridge. More like a B&B than a hotel.
